Your Learning Experience

The SingHealth General Surgery Residency is a structured five-year programme that will equip you with the medical knowledge, clinical skills and right attitudes of a proficient surgeon. The training curriculum comprises an excellent mix of clinical activities, didactic lectures and research opportunities in a conducive educational environment.

Surgery rotations take place at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and major participating site, Changi General Hospital (CGH) and Seng Kang General Hospital (SKH).  You would learn at various junior and senior levels for the respective subspecialties, with opportunities to participate in complex procedures.

Clinician Scientist Residency Track
Residents who wish to develop themselves in the area of clinical research have the opportunity to pursue research through the Clinician Scientist Track during their Residency training. As Surgery is an Academic Clinical Programme with four established career tracks for doctors (clinician-practitioner, clinician-investigator, clinician-educator and clinician-administrator), Residents can pursue a clinician-investigator career should they have the aptitude for research following the completion of their Residency training.
