Welcome Message

At SingHealth, our common purpose is to provide quality and affordable healthcare for our patients through quality Service, Education and Research. To fulfil the important educational and training role within SingHealth, SingHealth Residency nurtures the future generation of medical professionals - our Residents. We strive to develop our Residents into highly skilled medical leaders, who are innovative, self-directed learners with a strong sense of ethics and compassion.

As the largest Sponsoring Institution for Residency Programmes in Singapore, we have over 900 Residents enrolled in all the accredited programmes. With four Hospitals (Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Changi General Hospital (CGH), Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH)), five National Specialty Centres (National Cancer Centre SingaporeNational Dental Care CentreNational Heart Centre SingaporeNational Neuroscience InstituteSingapore National Eye Centre), three Community Hospitals (Bright Vision HospitalSengkang Community Hospital and Outram Community Hospital) and nine Polyclinics, we have a high clinical volume and variety in all specialties and subspecialties, thereby providing you with comprehensive clinical training.

Our Faculty comprises a group of locally and internationally renowned Clinician Educators who are passionate about teaching, with a common goal of nurturing the next generation to be better than themselves. Their vast clinical and instructional experiences will groom and equip you with the necessary medical knowledge and skills required to deliver quality patient care. In addition, our Centre for Resident And Faculty Development (CRAFD) equips you with other competencies like Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism and System-Based Practice. There are also optional programmes in Research and Education to cater to the varied interests of our Residents.

Apart from work, the Office of Resident Affairs (ORA) was formed to look into your welfare. You will have opportunities to be involved in various committees and in leading the junior Residents. SingHealth offers a comprehensive training experience with state-of-the-art facilities. Academia and the National Heart Centre Singapore are both situated at the Outram Campus, equipped with world-class research and educational facilities to enhance your training experience.

SingHealth is also expanding. Since the announcement of the SGH Campus Master Plan by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in 2016, the SGH Campus has been undergoing major redevelopment to enhance facilities and increase capacity for growing healthcare needs. The Outram Community Hospital and the new National Cancer Centre Singapore are both in operation, and the SGH Emergency Medicine, SGH Elective Care Centre and new National Dental Centre Singapore are slated to open within the next few years. Plans for the new Eastern General Hospital (EGH) are also in place. KKH will also be expanding their campus and enhancing their capabilities. These developments will provide better training facilities for you, and more importantly better career opportunities after you have graduated from your Residency Programme. Our strategic partnership with Duke-NUS on Academic Medicine, which taps on their strength in biomedical research and medical education capabilities, will also open more doors and provide you with greater opportunities and access to world-class research, clinical trials, new drugs, medicine and the latest technology.

The Residency Programme is a long journey filled with many challenges. If you are willing to put in the effort, our dedicated Faculty members are willing to walk this journey with you, support you and develop you to your fullest potential. Come, join us at SingHealth Residency!
