Residents' Committee Initiatives

The Residents' Committee (RC) has kickstarted several initiatives in since its inception:

SingHealth Hackathon
The inaugural SingHealth Hackathon was organised by the RC in 2017 to create a platform that enhances patient safety and inspires improvements to the healthcare system. Held every two years since then,  this biennial event aims to provide  all healthcare professionals across the SingHealth cluster and medical students an opportunity to collaborate, design and build new ideas and solutions to improve our patient care system. Student Internship Programme (SIP) Bootcamp
The SIP Bootcamp is a yearly event organised by the RC to engage medical students. Residents serve as educators, imparting the medical students with practical skills to becoming effective interns.

Residency Yearbook
The Residency Yearbook is an annual publication spearheaded by the Residents Committee and published in collaboration with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office, featuring the graduating cohort of Residents of that particular year. The Residency Yearbook holds memories of our Residents as well as successful events held in the past year, which reflect the vibrancy of SingHealth’s campus life.

SingHealth Residency Games
The RC and GME Office co-organises the SingHealth Residency Games, an annual event that forges camaraderie and allows Faculty, Residents and medical students to display their athleticism and sportsmanship. Residency Games Day is one of the highlights of the year, and is a fun-filled and highly competitive sporting event where each Programme sends their Residents to compete for the glory of winning the Championship Trophy!

Residents’ Blog
To share the Residents’ experience, the RC contributes to articles via the bi-monthly Residents’ Blog to keep House Officers, Medical Officers and medical students engaged with happenings at SingHealth Residency. These articles are written from the heart, and meant to depict the typical experiences a SingHealth Resident would go through.

Performance at Annual SingHealth Long Service Award Ceremony
The Residents’ Committee performance at the annual SingHealth Long Service Award is one of the highlights of the event. Since the inaugural Long Service Award ceremony in 2015, Residents have been putting up lively song or dance performances which are always well-received by all guests. The Residents’ Committee is proud to be part of this SingHealth-wide event which recognises the service and contributions of our senior clinicians and staff.
