DnT02 Fundamentals of Instructional Serious Game Design & Development (Via Zoom) 
(formerly known as SG 101)


DnT02, formerly known as SG 101, is specially designed for faculty who want to upgrade their digital capability skills set and expand their know-how to apply innovative digital tools in their training programmes, thus creating an immersive and engaging experience for learners and achieving the specific outcome(s).  


The online course via zoom is over 3 days & supplemented with self‐reading, quiz and project work.


Course Objectives

  • Discover the field of digital serious games, simulations and gamification using real-world examples.
  • Recognise that although a serious game is designed for the purpose of enhancing user engagement and immersive experience, it requires an instructional design approach with a specific purpose.
  • Discuss how psychological motivational theories support the use of digital serious games for health.
  • Differentiate between game design and instructional serious game design.
  • Apply a serious games design and assessment framework for design validation of serious games.


Target Audience

  • Faculty who are responsible for designing curriculum and would like to apply innovative digital tools in the training programmes.
