“I have no regrets joining the SingHealth IM family. The rotations are very well planned, with a good balance of core and elective postings. Every day there is something new to look forward to and learn from, be it the diverse patients from all backgrounds or the numerous specialties at the forefront of their field globally.”

Rather than a didactic/top-down approach, emphasis is placed on experiential learning with a lot of room for juniors to form and act on our own management plans but with guidance from our seniors who are genuinely passionate about teaching. So many doctors, nurses, allied health and staff here have inspired me through their dedication towards patients, work ethic, knowledge, and kindness.

The faculty is very approachable and looks out for us, taking our concerns and feedback seriously in trying to improve the programme. There is also a lot of support to pursue your interests in research, QI or other extracurricular activities. I personally enjoy the camaraderie and strong friendships that I have developed with both my fellow residents and seniors, through day-to-day work or while studying for exams together. Truly, I have found my second home and family in SingHealth IM.

“My main reason for choosing SingHealth IM is because the Faculty members are committed to the well-being of every single Resident. This is a family I am proud of.”

Opportunities – something SingHealth Internal Medicine (IM) Residency does not lack. Not only are we exposed to a high volume of patients with complex and rare conditions, there is also access to a wide range of cutting edge treatments.

What differentiates SingHealth IM Residency is its strong culture of teaching and mentoring. For those interested in research, there are many mentors who would take you under their wings to guide you.

“Apart from practical reasons like being familiar with the culture and people, I wanted to stay connected to the cluster in the long-term and shape the teaching environment for my juniors, both in formal and informal settings.”

I chose SingHealth Residency because I “grew up” as a medical student in the SingHealth cluster. Apart from practical reasons like being familiar with the culture and people, I wanted to stay connected to the cluster in the long-term and shape the teaching environment for my juniors, both in formal and informal settings.
