Asst Prof Phua Ghee Chee obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1997. He did his postgraduate training at Singapore General Hospital and Duke University Medical Centre. He is an accredited specialist in Respiratory Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine and Internal Medicine.

His key clinical interests are in Intensive Care Medicine, Lung Transplantation and Pulmonary Hypertension. He serves as the Head of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department at the Singapore General Hospital. His other appointments include President of the Chapter of Respiratory Physicians, Chair of SGH Campus ICU Committee and EXCO member of SingHealth Transplant.

He has a strong interest in Medical Education. He served as the former Programme Director of SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency Programme, and is currently the Director of Postgraduate Education in the SingHealth-Duke Medicine Academic Clinical Programme.
