About the Programme
The programme's main mission is to nurture the next generation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBGYN) specialists to become successful community OBGYN generalists, hospitalists and subspecialists. Our major objectives seek to balance service and education, and nurture the right attitude and ethical behaviour. Housing two major tertiary referral centres for women, SingHealth is the perfect place to begin your journey in OBGYN as you will be exposed to the discipline at both KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Singapore General Hospital. The Residency training programme has adopted the US Residency training philosophy, but at the same time, retains the beneficial aspects of the previous seamless UK training system in order to meet local healthcare needs. To provide you with a firm foundation in OBGYN, you will be exposed to a wide range of clinical experiences and subspecialty postings.
Residency training can be challenging and our Faculty is attentive to the welfare of their Residents including work-life balance, working hours and night duties. Our Residents meet regularly as a group to discuss matters affecting patient care and Residency training. The programme has an empathetic support network for Residents who need short-term counselling. With the support of our teaching Faculty and administrative staff, you will learn to be confident to deal with the challenges on your path to being an obstetrician and gynaecologist.
