Dynamic Educational Programme
Our programme maintains a vigorous education schedule, with the aim of providing ample opportunities for residents and faculty to interact and enhance learning, often with local experts and visiting professors. The wide span of educational activities – including Morbidity and Mortality rounds, incident reporting, Intensive Care Medicine Grand Ward Rounds, subspecialty interactive teaching sessions, simulation based medical education activities, journal clubs for critical appraisal of research publications, and multidisciplinary learning forums – are rooted in evidence-based Medical Education best practices and pedagogies to ensure effective teaching and learning, and will imbibe you with the best in academic medicine. Our Residency Programme will also aid you in preparing for the Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) [MMed (Anaes)] examinations through a series of didactic sessions, mock viva voce, Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and written examinations. Most importantly, regular assessments and feedback from faculty ensure that our residents are continually progressing and meeting the high standards expected of future leaders in Anaesthesiology.

Resident Scholarly Activities
At SingHealth, we believe in the power of research and innovation to advance the field of anaesthesiology. Our residents are encouraged to participate in a variety of scholarly activities, including Quality Improvement projects, peer reviewed research, and clinical trials. The strong research culture is further strengthened through collaboration with Duke-NUS Medical School, and the Academic Medicine Research Institute. This collaboration aims to further develop an academic milieu for new discoveries, which ultimately lead to improved patient care. Residents can participate in research with experienced research mentors, who are renowned in their own fields, and can expect guidance in designing and conducting research protocols of their own in a supportive environment. Thus far, many of our residents have had the opportunity to present their research at various local and international conferences. We also emphasize the importance of teaching and mentorship, preparing our residents to become educators themselves, shaping the future of the profession.

An integrative, comprehensive approach would develop an inquisitive mind in various aspects including research ethics, conduct of research, statistics, manuscript writing, publication, and grant writing. CS Residents will have regular personalized discussions and teaching from mentors who are nationally recognized Clinician Scientists and NMRC grant holders.
