Asst Prof Iain Bee Huat TAN

Asst Prof Iain Tan is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, leading the colorectal cancer service in the GI Oncology Team at the Department of Medical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore. He is also the clinical chair for the centre's luminal GI cancer Comprehensive Research Programme. Concurrently, he is a clinician scientist at the laboratory of cancer therapeutics and stratified oncology at the Genome Institute of Singapore. His research focuses on studying two key oncologic processes that preclude successful therapy – metastases and drug resistance and two key processes that naturally keep cancer at bay – immune surveillance and DNA repair. 


Asst Prof Iain also focuses on integrating next generation-omics technologies into patient care. He is a key member of Singapore's POLARIS stratified medicine programme which develops clinical grade molecular assays to direct patient management across human disease. He has published widely in leading journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Nature Genetics, Science Translational Medicine, Lancet Oncology and Cancer Research. For his research, he has received the ASCO Young Investigator Award (2010) and ASCO Merit Award (2011) and SingHealth Distinguished Young Researcher Award.
