About Singapore Chief Residency Programme

Organised by MOHH, the Singapore Chief Residency Programme (SCRP) is a year-long national programme that aims to prepare tomorrow's doctors to meet challenges in Singapore's rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, promote excellence in the medical education, and advance the country's Public Healthcare System. The programme is developed on the three values of:

  1. Collaboration – working together across systems, specialties, and professions, toward common goals
  2. Service – showing compassion and commitment to promote the interests of others in need
  3. Integrity – upholding moral principles consistent with the profession of medicine

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to lead, educate, manage, and think through a systems lens to meet organisational needs. This includes collaborating effectively within and across organisations and assume key clinical, administrative, and educational leadership roles within their organisations. Participants will be equipped with leadership, teaching, management, and policy competencies while inspiring a public service ethos and camaraderie that transcends the healthcare clusters.

What is different about the SCRP at SingHealth?

At SingHealth Residency, the SCRP is made more holistic by providing participating Chief Residents with an extra year of on-the-job training. The training offers participants valuable guidance from mentors that help in the completion of their portfolios and CVs and the sharpening of their leadership skills for continuing professional growth.

Top Chief Residents will have the opportunity to have an overseas attachment at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
