Residency in Real-World Data and Digital Health

Our healthcare landscape is being transformed by advancements in technology and the increasing availability of real-world data. The integration of digital health solutions and data analytics into clinical practice has become essential for improving patient outcomes and enhancing healthcare delivery. As healthcare systems strive to become more efficient and patient-centred, there is a pressing need for clinician leaders who are well-versed in health informatics, clinical data science, and digital health strategies.

The Residency in Real-World Data and Digital Health (R²D²) aims to address this gap by equipping trainees with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of modern information-enabled healthcare. By fostering a deep understanding of how technology and data intersect with clinical workflows, participants will be empowered to lead and collaborate on innovative digital health initiatives. This programme will also provide exposure to the emerging role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, preparing clinicians to leverage AI methods for improved decision-making and patient care.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

There are 3 tiers to the programme:

R²D² Foundations: An e-learning course available on SingHealth e-learning.

R²D² Core: A year-long Resident Plus Signature Programme. Application and pre-requisites required. 

R²D² +: Applicants will need to complete the Core tier as a pre-requisite.

After completion of Foundations, residents may apply for R²D² Core, which is crafted for residents who feel the calling to bridge the gap between clinical practice and cutting-edge technology, or a vision for leveraging data to solve real healthcare challenges. If you sense that drive but need the knowledge, practical skills, and guidance to turn ideas into reality, this is where your journey begins.

You will be paired with a mentor to offer expertise, wisdom, and perspective as you navigate the complexities of health informatics and data science. You will gain essential foundations in medical informatics principles and healthcare data science methods, equipping you with the tools you need to conceptualise boldly and execute with confidence.

Most importantly, we hope to connect you with the wider community of clinician-informaticians and data scientists across SingHealth, building a vibrant network where innovation thrives, collaboration sparks breakthrough solutions, and the future of healthcare is being shaped.
