SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Residency offers broad exposure across multiple institutions and subspecialties, allowing Residents to encounter a diverse range of cases whilst developing strong clinical foundations. Beyond clinical training, the programme strongly supports research, teaching, and leadership development, with many opportunities to participate in academic projects and present at conferences. 

What I value most is the culture of mentorship and camaraderie. Faculty are deeply invested in Resident growth, and seniors and peers are always willing to guide and support one another. The training is rigorous but rewarding, constantly challenging us to think critically and strive for excellence in patient care.

I chose the SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Residency because of its strong academic culture, breadth of training, and supportive environment. It is a programme that truly nurtures well-rounded radiologists and lifelong learners.

The various Radiology Residency programmes may be seen as mere five-year tracks to reach the common goal of becoming a consultant radiologist. At the SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Residency Programme, we strive to be a great programme. ‘Strive’ because we know we can always be better. Our faculty is always receptive to and acts upon feedback, our Residents inspire each other with their various talents, and our programme executives continuously pour an endless amount of effort into supporting our wellbeing.

"The SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Residency Programme has a strong teaching culture, a close-knit community, and a structured training programme. From early on, I felt supported and welcomed, which made the transition into Residency much smoother."

The training is rigorous yet well structured, with protected teaching time for lectures and tutorials. Beyond clinical work, there are also opportunities to get involved in welfare, research, and teaching, making the experience more meaningful and allowing us to grow beyond day-to-day reporting. 

What I value most is the supportive culture — there is genuine camaraderie among Residents and faculty, and you never feel like you are going through training alone. It is always easy to reach out for help when needed. While it is a demanding journey, it is ultimately both fulfilling and rewarding.

I am proud to be a SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Resident because the programme is well known for nurturing well-rounded radiologists. Beyond strong clinical training, there are abundant opportunities in research, education, leadership, and co-curricular development. For instance, participation in global health outreach trips is helpful in broadening perspectives and becoming more adaptable radiologists — reminding us that radiology extends well beyond reporting in dark rooms. 

What truly sets SingHealth apart is its supportive and collaborative culture. The faculty are dedicated teachers, and there is strong camaraderie among Residents, making it easy to learn openly without fear of judgement. Seniors and peers are always willing to guide and support one another, creating a positive and safe learning environment. 

The programme also values Resident wellbeing, with regular social activities and strong welfare support, striking a meaningful balance between working hard and enjoying the journey together.
