Emergency Medicine Residency Programme

Banner-EM.jpgAbout the Programme

Emergency Medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of unforeseen illnesses or injuries that span the breadth of clinical medicine and surgery.

In the race against time to save lives, emergency physicians work in hospital-based emergency departments, acute clinical situations, pre-hospital environments and during disasters.

Emergency Medicine was recognised by the Ministry of Health (MOH) as a speciality in Singapore in 1984.  SingHealth Emergency Medicine Residency Programme (SHEMRP) was set up in 2010 when the specialist training in Singapore transited from Basic/Advanced specialty training programme to that of a Residency Programme.  We are the largest Emergency Medicine Residency Programme in Singapore and have received continued external accreditation since 2010.  We are constantly striving to provide the best learning experience for our residents.  Our eventual vision is to nurture leaders in Emergency Medicine.

Many of our residents have excelled and received awards in recognition of their outstanding performance.  These include the National Outstanding Clinician Scientist Resident Awards, Top Chief Resident Awards, and Inspiring Resident-Educator Awards.

We are looking for applicants who are team players, believe in lifelong learning and possess integrity and resilience to join our programme.
