This year has been an incredibly meaningful year, marked by milestones that reaffirmed why I chose medicine in the first place. One of them being receiving my Master of Medicine, which stood out as a culmination of years of hard work, late nights and personal growth.

We've graduated!
Another milestone that was especially rewarding to me was giving back to the Internal Medicine Residency community. This includes helping international medical graduates integrate into Singapore’s medical culture (during my stint in the Student Relations Residency Committee), participating in several teaching initiatives for incoming House Officers as well as contributing to PACES training.
Apart from mentoring others, I was given the opportunity to present my very first poster at the 6th Asia Pacific AKI CRRT Conference (held in Thailand last October). It further broadened my horizons and reinforced my passion for continuous learning and medical education. It truly was an unforgettable experience!

An unforgettable experience… presenting my poster submission at an overseas conference.
That said, my journey this year was not one without its challenges. If anything, 2025 has taught me the importance of juggling multiple commitments. From balancing clinical responsibilities to personal commitments, having to manage several things at a time has taught me to prioritise, stay organised and stay focused. Mistakes are inevitable but instead of fearing them, I learnt to see them as opportunities to reflect and grow.
On the note of growing, my friends, family and patients have been some of my greatest teachers and supporters. Their experiences, challenges and resilience have taught me the meaning of empathy. It is safe to say that I have truly grown both professionally and personally over the last few years thanks to them.
As I prepare for 2026, I hope to be able to complete my Junior Residency training on a strong note and step into Senior Residency with the same enthusiasm I have carried with me since day one. Just as how my mentors once guided me, I aspire to continue teaching and nurturing my juniors in the same way. At the end of my Residency journey, I hope to become a better clinician, a kinder person and be the doctor I have always envisioned myself to be.
If there was one thing I could tell my younger self it would be this: Do not lose hope when things get tough, you are stronger than you think. The tough parts won’t last forever and you are never alone. Chin up, keep going – you’ve got this!
