Wound Management Course Level I

This curriculum is designed for nurses to enhance their knowledge and skills in management of different types of wounds such as vascular, dermatology, stoma and pressure injuries. Besides assessing patient at risk of developing these wounds, it equips the nurses to recommend the appropriate dressing with regards to the patient’s condition, overall treatment goal, and resources availability and in line with the organisational policies in clinical practices.

At this course, participants will learn to:
  • State needs for the programme

  • Gain an overview of basic principles in wound assessment and management 

  • Describe the prevention and classification of pressure injuries 

  • Acquire a better understanding of common dermatological problems seen in clinical setting
  • Discuss the availability of resources for vascular, dermatology, stoma and pressure injuries

  • Explain the nursing management of leg ulcers, vascular, dermatology and stoma
