Basic ECG Interpretation I

This course aims to equip nurses with knowledge & skills to interpret and responds to abnormal ECG rhythms in the clinical settings.


At this course, participants will learn to:

  • Describe the Fundamentals of ECG

  • Calculate the heart rate

  • Outline the approach to rhythmn analysis, recognise the 6 steps for rhythm interpretations

  • Identify and interpret Sinus Rhythm

  • Identify and interpret Sinus Arrhythmias

  • Identify and interpret Atrial Arrhythmias

  • Identify and interpret Ventricular Arrhythmias

  • Identify and interpret Heart Blocks


Target Audience

Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses with at least 6 months working experience in clinical settings.


Exclusion Criteria:

  • Registered Nurses who had obtained Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care, Medical-Surgical & Emergency Nursing) or equivalent
  • Registered Nurses who had attended Clinical Teaching Course for Nurses
  • Enrolled Nurses who had attended Senior Enrolled Nurse Developmental Programme
