Basic Understanding of Financial Accounting (Module 1)

This is 1 of the 3 revised basic accounting and finance modules with enhanced topics tailored to persons without prior accounting knowledge or background. Each of the 3 modules are independent of each other. They can be attended in any sequence.

Learning Objectives

After attending this module, participants should be able to:

1. Understand the types of financial statements;

2. Know their contents and what information they convey;

3. Visualise the double-entry accounting system;

4. Have a bird’s eyeview of the financial accounting system from journal to ledger to financial statements;

5. Find where crucial accounting information is located;

6. Aware of the limitations of financial statements

Training methodology: Explanation of theories and concepts, practical worksheets, game and group discussions.

Target Audience

Any person without prior knowledge of financial accounting but is keen to have a bird’s eye-view to see and understand how the financial accounting system works.
