Professor Catherine Evans is a senior clinical academic in palliative care and nursing, at the Cicely Saunders Institute, Faculty of Nursing Midwifery and Palliative Care, King’s College London. She is Deputy-Director of the King’s Clinical Academic Training Office (KCATO), a pan-professional hub for clinical academics. She leads a research programme on new models of community care for integrated palliative dementia/geriatric care, and transitions in care between hospital and home. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating service level interventions using mixed method trial designs, and observational studies examining population needs and priorities to deliver high-quality palliative care. Her interventions incorporate new models of integrated palliative care in primary and community care, use of person-centred outcomes for holistic assessment linked with clinical decision aids, and digital healthcare for remote assessment and management of care. She is passionate about research capacity building in palliative care for nurses and allied health professionals within the multidisciplinary team. She is an Honorary Nurse Consultant in Palliative Care, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.
