Prof Tan Kok Hian was previously KKH's Campus Director of Patient Safety and Quality. He is the inaugural Chair of National Quality Council since June 2017, which serves as the national advisory panel to Singapore MOH on health quality priorities and strategies.

                                   

Prof Tan initiated the SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN) in 2017 and serves as advisor. He led in the cluster-wide implementation of TeamSPEAK®, an in-house cluster psychological safety programme for staff and faculty to speak up for patient safety since 2017.

                                   

Prof Tan is a member of the expert group on Patient Safety in World Health Organisation (WHO) and serves as a WHO consultant in patient safety and quality. He received the WHO United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize 2009 as KKH Integrated Perinatal Care Project Team Leader and the Inaugural National Outstanding Clinical Quality Activist Award 2010.

                                   

He was conferred the Benjamin Henry Sheares Professorship by Duke-NUS for his outstanding contributions in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2019. He led in the national evidence-based guidelines development of gestational diabetes; perinatal nutrition; and physical activity and exercise in pregnancy.
