Peritoneal Dialysis Training Programme

The purpose of the programme is to promote expanded role, enhance skills and knowledge for nurses working in the ward and to enable the nurses to be competent in performing peritoneal dialysis procedures effectively and efficiently.

Participants will learn to:

• Outline the physiological principles of peritoneal dialysis
• Explain exit site care according to SGH policy and procedure
• Describe the different type of PD solutions, prescription and documentation
• Identify the common causes of PD complications.
• Demonstrate Peritoneal Dialysis Exit Site Care
• Explain the administration of Intra-peritoneal medication
• Demonstrate Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis via Ultra Bag exchanges
• Demonstrate Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis via Staysafe Balance exchanges
• Demonstrate Automated Peritoneal Dialysis via Sleepsafe Harmony
  
• Demonstrate Automated Peritoneal Dialysis via Home Choice Claria

Target Audience

Registered Nurse (at least 1 year of working experience in the ward) and had nursed PD patients
