Intermediate Wound Management Course

Synonym(s):

This course aims to provide the nurses with the knowledge and skills to support intermediate wound care that improves patients’ outcomes. Through eLearning, it intends to benefit Registered Nurses with case examples in complex wound management such as atypical leg ulcers, burns, fungating wounds, adjuvant therapies and challenging stomas. It includes workshops sharing on negative pressure wound therapy, stoma insider tips, compression & maggot therapy.

Participants will learn to:

  • Differentiate atypical leg ulcers (E-learning)
  • List advanced and adjuvant wound therapies available in wound care (E-learning)
  • Outline an overview of burns, fungating wounds and their nursing management (E-learning)
  • Describe challenging stomas and discuss stoma accessories (Workshop)
  • Demonstrate analysis and problem solving on issues with patients on negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) (Workshop)
  • Understand nursing responsibilities related to compression therapy and maggot therapy (Workshop)

 

Target Audience

Registered Nurses, Principal Enrolled Nurses, Senior Enrolled Nurses working in hospital or intermediate long term care setting

 

Exclusion Criteria

Nurses who have attended

  • Resident Nurse Training Programme
  • Graduate Certificate or higher in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice
