Clinical Instructor Development Programme (CIDP)

Synonym(s):
Clinical Instructor Development Programme aims to prepare and develop RNs, PENs & SENs with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attributes for an effective role in clinical supervision and assessment of pre-registration and pre-enrolment nursing students.
 
Participants will learn to:
 
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of a clinical instructor in nursing
  • Discuss the principles of clinical supervision
  • Explore different learning styles and teaching strategies to meet students/learners’ needs 
  • Apply and facilitate reflective learning in practice 
  • Discuss best practices in assessing and verifying students’ clinical learning and achievement of expected competencies
  • Apply assessment methods used by various education institutions to achieve expected learning outcomes 
  • Provide constructive feedback and encourage improvements
  • Apply tools to evaluate clinical learning environment
  • Apply best practices in communication skills with students, colleagues and other healthcare staff
  • Conduct clinical supervision of a group of students 
  • Manage common student learning issues 

 

Target Audience

Registered Nurses

  • Minimum of three years’ clinical experience
  • Minimum one year of clinical preceptor experience
  • Preferably an advanced diploma or post-graduate diploma in nursing/equivalent for speciality areas

​Principal Enrolled Nurses & Senior Enrolled Nurses

  • Minimum of three years’ clinical experience
  • Minimum two years of clinical preceptor experience
