Clinical Instructor Development Programme aims to prepare and develop RNs, PENs & SENs with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attributes for an effective role in clinical supervision and assessment of pre-registration and pre-enrolment nursing students.
Participants will learn to:
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of a clinical instructor in nursing
- Discuss the principles of clinical supervision
- Explore different learning styles and teaching strategies to meet students/learners’ needs
- Apply and facilitate reflective learning in practice
- Discuss best practices in assessing and verifying students’ clinical learning and achievement of expected competencies
- Apply assessment methods used by various education institutions to achieve expected learning outcomes
- Provide constructive feedback and encourage improvements
- Apply tools to evaluate clinical learning environment
- Apply best practices in communication skills with students, colleagues and other healthcare staff
- Conduct clinical supervision of a group of students
- Manage common student learning issues
Target Audience
Registered Nurses
- Minimum of three years’ clinical experience
- Minimum one year of clinical preceptor experience
- Preferably an advanced diploma or post-graduate diploma in nursing/equivalent for speciality areas
Principal Enrolled Nurses & Senior Enrolled Nurses
- Minimum of three years’ clinical experience
- Minimum two years of clinical preceptor experience
