Presentation Synopsis
HM 3 - Building the Neuroscience Network
In today's complex healthcare landscape, comprehensive neuroscience care extends beyond individual expertise, demanding a robust network of collaborations and partnerships. The National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), despite being the smallest healthcare institution within SingHealth, functions as a National Specialist Centre, providing clinical care to 7 public healthcare institutions in Singapore. As an academic medical centre, NNI spearheads neuroscience research and trains future healthcare providers in the field.

Over 25 years, NNI has cultivated a comprehensive neuroscience ecosystem in Singapore, seamlessly integrating internal multidisciplinary teams with external partnerships across hospitals, research institutions, universities, and community organisations. These strategic alliances enhance care coordination, accelerate scientific breakthroughs, and amplify patient advocacy.

Central to this ecosystem's success are three key elements: identifying crucial stakeholders, fostering mutual trust, and establishing a shared vision and goals.

This presentation explores NNI's journey in building these partnerships, highlighting the critical factors that contribute to successful collaborations. The presentation also examines the challenges encountered in developing and maintaining these relationships, offering insights into valuable lessons learned. By sharing NNI's experiences, we hope to create awareness on the importance of sustaining effective partnerships and collaborations, especially in today’s climate.
