Prof Hum has earlier served as the Dean of the NUS Business School. He is currently on a second tour of admin duty, serving as the Deputy Dean. Prof Hum is the Professor of Operations & Supply Chain in the Department of Analytics & Operations. His research interests are in operations strategy and modelling analysis of supply chains. Prof Hum recently published a landmark book titled Zheng He's Art of Collaboration, positioning it as an alternative to Sun Zi's Art of War.
