SIMS i3 Hub at Academia (SGH Campus)

Advancing Healthcare Simulation

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS) i3 Hub, launched on 18 January 2022 by Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower, Dr Koh Poh Koon, leverages on the latest simulation technologies and serious games to transform training in healthcare. Located in Academia (SGH Campus), the i3 Hub is a dedicated space fully equipped with a wide array of Extended Reality (XR) solutions and cutting-edge gaming equipment, offering healthcare professionals immersive and interactive learning experiences to hone their clinical skills and competencies in a risk-free environment.

The Hub aims to inspire collaborations and innovations in healthcare simulation by gathering like-minded healthcare professionals, while spurring the incubation of new ideas to advance patient safety.

Dedicated Space for Immersive Learning

The configuration of the i3 Hub is optimised to support the training of individuals and healthcare teams via the Inspire Room and Energise Room. Different types of extended reality headsets like Occulus Quest, HTC Vive, Microsoft Hololens as well as gaming computers and tablets are available for training purposes.

After training sessions, game data can be extracted, giving educators useful insight into areas for improvement for their learners. Debriefing can also be carried out in the main area of the i3 Hub, ensuring effective and fulfilling learning.

The Inspire Room hosts single-player games that teach skills like resuscitation and managing pharmacy prescriptions. The use of Virtual Reality (VR) further offers players a 360 immersive experience.

The Energise Room hosts multi-player games which teaches skills like management of acute care patients and responding to cardiac arrest that are meant for healthcare teams to play together. It also includes a haptic floor which can vibrate to heighten the immersiveness of simulation.

The Hub provide various types of Extended Reality (XR) headsets to complement your healthcare training needs.

Gaming computers and tablets are available for both group and individual-based learning.

Debriefing space at the main area of the Hub allows educators and learners to discuss their performance after playing.
