Organised by SingHealth Duke-NUS Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre (SDSC), the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sport and Exercise Medicine Conference brings together healthcare professionals from a wide range of disciplines to share knowledge and foster integration within the Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) fraternity.
The theme for this year’s conference is "Sport and Exercise Medicine in Special Populations", which is in line with the longer-term goals of “Healthier SG” strategy and population health emphasis by the Ministry of Health (MOH). We, the SEM fraternity, have a pivotal role in MOH’s goal to create a healthier Singapore population through increased physical activity!
Come 6 March 2027, we are expecting a turnout of more than 400 participants including family physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, paediatricians, cardiologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians and of course, sports physicians.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are delighted to welcome everyone back physically in Academia, Singapore, at the 3rd SingHealth Duke-NUS Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Conference on 6 March 2027!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past two years could not be any tougher for many clinicians, practitioners and even Singaporeans. Despite the pandemic, our inaugural SEM conference proceeded virtually in 2021 with a strong turnout of close to 400 delegates from diverse backgrounds, including family physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, paediatricians, cardiologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, nurses, and many more. We are tremendously heartened and grateful for everyone's support!
The Conference in 2027 is themed "Sport and Exercise Medicine in Special Populations", which is timely with the recent transformational measures announced by the Ministry of Health, Singapore—to promote healthy living and aging among Singaporeans through the use of Sports and Exercise Medicine. Delegates may continue to look forward to an exciting line-up of speakers and sessions that will provide valuable insights into sport and exercise medicine. The Main Conference is categorised into three tracks with a focus on integrating SEM with population health and paediatric medicine, as we also unravel the studies behind COVID-19 patients returning to physical activities.
The Conference also consists of a series of Pre-Conference Workshops where delegates can look forward to learning from renowned radiologists and sports medicine physicians on the intricacies of diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries as well as learn ways to effectively prescribe exercise to patients. This is truly an exciting time to be discovering how exercise can be integrated into healthcare, and to move beyond healthcare to health!
We look forward to having you join us at the SEM Conference 2027, as we advance Sport and Exercise Medicine to enhance population health.
