The S3 Conference 2017 brought together close to 500 of the world's leading experts in medical simulation and delegates from Singapore, Europe, and USA to lead the transformation of medical simulation in the region. Jointly organised by the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS), Singapore, in partnership with the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM), Europe, and the Gathering Of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS), USA, the S3 Conference is the first of its kind in Asia as a collaborative healthcare simulation conference.
At the Opening Ceremony, Guest of Honour Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Health and Transport, said, "The benefits (of medical simulation) are well-documented – healthcare professionals develop clinical decision-making skills, competence in performing procedures, and confidence in managing similar scenarios in actual practice. This shortens the learning curve, improves patient safety and ultimately leads to better clinical outcomes."
The Conference presented a wide array of simulation topics, such as scenario-based learning, high performance teams training, virtual and augmented reality training, e-Learning, and the use of standardised patients in healthcare education today. Delegates enjoyed a fruitful time of learning, sharing and networking with other like-minded educators in simulation. We look forward to riding the wave of simulation together and pushing frontiers in patient safety!
