Overview

‘Movies are not entertainment. They are a kind of language and reflection.’
– Peter Greenaway, British film director, screen writer and artist.

In learning and teaching psychiatry, much can be understood from the use of deep reflection and empathic listening to what has been said. Movies can be the channel for improving teaching skills and fostering reflection among learners and educators. This also applies to other fields of medicine and health professions which underscore reflective practice.

Hear as A/Prof Tan Lay Ling shares on the theoretical basis and challenges of Cinemeducation, and strategies that are used in movies to teach psychiatry.
