Writing Proper Minutes


The writing of proper, appropriate and accurate Minutes is crucial in any meeting. It serves as a significant historical document for an organisation as it looks at its development and accomplishments over time. 

Learning Objectives

At the workshop, participants will learn:
  • The importance of a clear agenda
  • Anticipating and managing common problems when preparing an agenda
  • Being prepared for a meeting
  • The importance of minutes
  • Relevant VS. irrelevant items for recording
  • Clarifying and confirming points of discussion and decision
  • Establishing proper headings for topics and issues discussed
  • Writing concise sentences and paragraphs
  • Using clear and accurate language
  • Standards and conventions accepted locally and globally

Dr Isaac Lim is the Vice President of Research Communication International.  A significant member of the RCI team, Dr Lim has spoken and taught at leadership conferences and institutes in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Europe, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore.  He is a PEAKS Consultant and coaches and mentor leaders in personal and team development.  Apart from the training of leaders, Dr Lim has also taught the writing of Proper Minutes for over a decade drawing from his experience in the chairing of various boards and committees.
