Graduate Nurse Integrated Programme (GNIP)

Newly graduated nurses often encounter stressful challenges when transitioning from their role as a student nurse to a registered nurse. It is therefore crucial to provide them with a structured programme designed to help them integrate into their new roles and clinical environment.

This one-year programme aims to equip new nurses with the knowledge and skills required to translate their knowledge into practice with as little difficulties as possible. Kindly note that this programme is only open to nurses in SingHealth institutions and by internal nomination only.
 

Objectives:

  • Facilitate assimilation into the clinical environment
  • Facilitate transition from student nurse to registered nurse
  • Prepare graduand nurses in management of patient care
  • Develop clinical leadership in graduand nurses
  • Develop confidence in graduand nurses
  • Promote networking and bonding among graduand nurses

Phase 1: Induction 

  • Roles and responsibilities of a registered nurse
  • Leadership skills for problem solving and decision making
  • Infection control measures
  • Staff and patient safety
  • Nursing documentation (ClinDoc)
  • General management of patients
 

Phase 2: Technical Skills

  • Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture
  • Intravenous administration of medication
  • Management of patients based on specific specialities such as Cardiology, Medical-Surgical, Neonatology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics
