Associate Professor Sophia Ang Bee Leng is Vice Chairman of the Medical Board for Patient Safety and Quality at the National University Hospital in Singapore and a full-time Senior Consultant of Anaesthesia. She is a patient safety consultant with the Singapore Ministry of Health, and a member of the Singapore Medical Council.

Assoc Prof Sophia Ang has been researching patient safety for the last decade, and has been a speaker at international patient safety conferences including BMJ Quality and Safety and ISQua among others.

She has received a Public Service gold award for quality activism, and the National Medical Excellence Award for leading a project on the communication of critical laboratory tests.

Her areas of research, publication and interests include: handover, rapid escalation, communication of critical laboratory tests, correct-site surgery, inter-professional education  and medication safety.
