Assoc Prof Ian Yeo is the Academic Vice Chair (Education) of the Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre and the Deputy Medical Director (Education) at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). Assoc Prof Yeo is Senior Consultant in the Retina Centre at the SNEC. He is Head of the Medical Retina Department and Senior Consultant in the Surgical Retinal Department. He was the Programme Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Programme since it began in July 2011 until November 2014. Assoc Prof Yeo is Director of postgraduate medical education in SNEC, and is involved in both postgraduate as well as undergraduate teaching in the Duke-NUS Medical School and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also a member of the Residency Advisory Committee.


He is an Adjunct Senior Scientist with the Singapore Eye Research Institute. His area of clinical interest is in medical and surgical retina. In the area of education, his focus is on the role of simulators for clinical training. His other area of research includes serosanguineous maculopathy, namely polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. He is the Principal Investigator in the mesoblast trial using stem cells for patients with wet age-related maculopathy.
