Dr Daniel TING Shu Wei

Dr Daniel Ting is the current SingHealth Ophthalmology Chief Resident and former Co-chair of the SingHealth Residents’ Committee. He joined the Singapore Chief Residency Programme in 2014 as part of the National Health Care Leadership College/Ministry of Health initiatives, with the aim to nurture the future healthcare leaders of Singapore. In 2015, he completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia. His scientific findings on ‘Retinal Video Recording: A Novel Method for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening’ scored multiple media releases in Australia and the United States of America, and was ranked the top story of Medscape Ophthalmology in 2011. 
Academically, Dr Ting maintained the first ranking nationally in the US-based exam, Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program-International (OKAPI), for three consecutive years (2012, 2013 and 2014). In addition, he was awarded the prestigious UK FRCOphth McCartney Prize (2013), Richard Fann Gold Medal Award (2014) and the Khoo Scholar Award (2015). He has also won nine SingHealth Residency in SingHealth Excels Awards in Ophthalmology between 2013 and 2015, including the Outstanding Resident Award, Young Inspiring Resident Award, ITE award, Young Educator Award and Residents’ Committee Award.
