A/Prof Chng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and a Consultant Hematologist in the Department of Hematology-Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Singapore (NCIS), National University Health System (NUHS). He is also a principal Investigator at the Cancer Science Institute, Singapore (CSI), NUS. A/Prof Chng receive medical training both in the United Kingdom and locally and spent 3 years at the Mayo Clinic on a research fellowship.
A/Prof Chng has won multiple awards both locally and internationally including the A*STAR international fellowship in 2004, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Fellowship in 2006, the Celgene Future Leaders in Hematology award at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting in 2007, the NMRC Clinician Scientist Award in 2008, and the National University of Singapore Young Researcher Award in 2011. Till date, he has published more than 70 research papers in journals such as Cancer Cell, Blood and Leukemia. His current research involves the use of high-resolution global genomic technique to understand biology, identify drug targets, understand drug resistance and improve disease prognosis in hematologic malignancies, with the ultimate aim of improving patient’s outcome and personalizing treatment.
