Simulation-based Research

Simulation-based research includes studies designed to develop, test, and evaluate the impact of various healthcare simulation approaches for the purpose of improving the safe delivery of health care. It includes initiatives in the following general areas:

  • Simulation as a training technique
  • Simulation as a test bed to examine the impact of new clinical processes, procedures, and technologies, without compromising patient safety
  • Simulation as a means to establish performance competency benchmarks

To advance the field of healthcare simulation, SIMS conducts simulation-based research into simulation theory, practice, and technology.
