Neonatal Advanced Resuscitation Course (Neo ARC)

 


The Neonatal Advanced Resuscitation Course is a two day course which consists of lectures, workshops hands on training via skills stations and simulation scenarios. Participants will learn a systematic approach to rapid assessment and initial management of newborn with worrying or life threatening signs in variety of clinical situations from delivery to the postnatal period.

The course will also focus on skills in airway management including difficult airways, procedures hands on session using of animal carcass for chest drain insertion use of amplitude integrated EEG ( communication with family members and resuscitation techniques in situations such as pre mature births as well as babies born with congenital abnormalities.

This course features the ARNI (Advanced Resuscitation of the Newborn Infant) approach which was developed by the Resuscitation Council in United Kingdom and launched in 2014 as a national programme in UK.


Course Objectives

 
Participants will:

  • To be equipped with knowledge and skills in delivering effective neonatal care
  • Able to learn the importance of timely interventions and good communication to improve performance and quality of care in post natal collapse
  • To be equipped with skills in communication between professionals and families
  • Learn hands on skills in life threatening emergencies and high risk situations in neonates through skills stations and structured simulations as well as debriefing sessions


Target Audience

Medical Nursing staff involved in the delivery and care of newborns in a role more advanced than that of first responders It may also be appropriate for others such as experienced paramedics involved in newborn transfer, anesthetists with a newborn or PICU practice Participants need to have some basic knowledge and skills in neonatal resuscitation and should be a SNRC provider.
