Dr. Renzo R. Guinto, MD DrPH, is Associate Professor and Lead of the Planetary Health Programme at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI), Duke-NUS Medical School, National University of Singapore.

A Filipino physician and planetary health pioneer, Dr Guinto is a member of the National Panel of Technical Experts of the Philippine Climate Change Commission; World Health Organization’s Technical Advisory Group on the ethics of climate and health; US National Academy of Medicine’s Committee for Transformative Action for Health and Climate; editorial boards of various journals including The Lancet Planetary Health; and seven Lancet Commissions, including the Lancet Commission on Sustainable Healthcare.

An Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leader and Aspen Institute New Voices Fellow, Dr Guinto is the convener of Planetary Health Philippines—a community for nation building and planetary healing in the Philippines, and chair of the Committee on Environmental Health & Ecology of the Philippine Medical Association. He has served as consultant and adviser for dozens of international organizations and networks such as the WHO, World Bank, and Wellcome.

Dr Guinto obtained his Doctor of Public Health degree from Harvard University and Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines Manila. In 2022, Dr Guinto was named one of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) of the Philippines, and in 2025, he was awarded the inaugural Kiyoshi Kurokawa Award for “extraordinary contributions to health policy and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region”.
