Overview:

Legionellosis is a disease caused by the inhalation of Legionella bacteria contained in tiny water droplets and can be caused by poorly maintained water systems or stagnant water. In most buildings and large facilities, the water system is complex, with multiple water storage tanks, extensive pipelines, and hot/cold systems. Changes in water demand over time – or at different locations within the building – can cause water stagnancy and decreased chlorine levels, allowing proliferation of bacteria. This presentation will share how water systems can be managed within buildings to optimise water age, minimise water stagnation, and prevent the growth of Legionella.
