Candida auris is an emerging multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen associated with healthcare outbreaks worldwide. The identification of Clade VI at the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore, presented unique diagnostic and infection control challenges, given limited existing guidance on optimal screening approaches and the novelty of this clade within the broader C. auris phylogeny.This presentation describes our three-year institutional journey in developing and refining a comprehensive response to C. auris Clade VI, encompassing screening strategy design, diagnostic assay validation, epidemiological characterisation, and the iterative evolution of our infection prevention and control (IPC) framework.
