Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping healthcare delivery, and its potential applications in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) are expanding beyond proof‑of‑concept into real‑world practice.

This plenary session will explore how AI and digital tools can be practically applied to strengthen IPC programmes across healthcare settings. The talk will highlight emerging and current use cases of AI in IPC and surveillance in the literature and here in our institution. It aims to provide a balanced and practical overview of where AI can add value today, what is on the near horizon, and how healthcare institutions can begin to experiment and innovate thoughtfully to improve patient and staff safety through smarter IPC practices.
