Diabetes Nursing Course

Synonym(s):

This course is designed for the Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) to create awareness on general management of diabetes care in health promotion and complications prevention.

 

Participants will learn to:

  • Discuss the prevalence and pathophysiology of diabetes

  • State the classifications of diabetes

  • Explain screening and diagnosis of diabetes

  • Identify diabetes complications and screening

  • Discuss Diabetes Self Management Education & Support (DSMES)

  • Recognize oral diabetes medications and other injectable therapies

  • Discuss types of insulin and use of insulin pen

  • Describe glucose monitoring and diabetes technology

  • Discuss the management of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia
