At SGH, our programme offers clinical attachments across various nursing specialties for both local and overseas nurses. This clinical attachment programme is developed to enable nurses to gain valuable exposure to Singapore's healthcare system, foster professional networking and collaboration, acquire advanced clinical expertise and practical skills in specialised fields, thereby strengthening their clinical confidence and improving patient care outcomes.

OBSERVATIONAL NURSING CLINICAL ATTACHMENT IN SINGAPORE GENERAL HOSPITAL (NO HANDS-ON)

 

ELIGIBILITY

​Only nurses who are currently registered in their home country and have sponsorship from their institution or organisation are eligible to apply.

Applicants are to submit only 1 online application for consideration, multiple applications will be rejected.

 

​OBSERVER ATTACHMENT AVAILABILITY AND DURATION

Please check our calendar for the availability period.

All clinical attachment requests are subjected to approval from the Chief Nurse.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants are to complete the online application form for consideration of a placement.

 

APPLICATION TIMELINE

Applications must be submitted at least 3 months before your intended clinical attachment start date.

 

TRAINING FEES

Training fees apply and will be communicated upon confirmation of placement.

 

​VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following criteria prior to arriving in Singapore and submit immunization records or serology test results indicating immunity.

  • Varicella (Chickenpox): Varicella IgG positive (serology report) OR Completed TWO doses of Varicella vaccine.
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): Measles IgG, Mumps IgG and Rubella IgG positive OR completed TWO doses of MMR vaccine.
  • Tetanus, Diptheria, Acellular Pertussis (Tdap): 1 dose of Boostrix/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
  • Hepatitis B: Evidence of negative Hepatitis B surface antigen and immunity to Hepatitis B OR completed THREE doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.

*Self-declaration of symptoms suggestive of active tuberculosis.

The symptoms include prolonged cough, persistent unintentional loss of weight within past three months, and general unwellness (such as fever, chills, sweating at night, weakness of fatigue, loss of appetite) within past two weeks prior to entry to hospital premise.

If any of these symptoms present, medical evaluation is advised and entry to clinical areas is not recommended.

 

INDEMNITY FORMS

Successful applicants will be required to complete and sign below 3 documents before commencement of observer attachment:

  • Indemnity from External User (Individual)
  • Indemnity from External User (Institution)
  • For External Users at SingHealth & SingHealth Institutions (“Undertaking”)

 

OTHER INFORMATION

Scope of Clinical Attachment
This clinical attachment is strictly observational. Participants are not permitted to engage in any hands-on clinical activities during their attachment period.

Epidemic Outbreak / COVID-19
Clinical attachments may be suspended in accordance with Singapore national and SingHealth advisories in the event of an epidemic outbreak or changes to the COVID-19 situation.

Entry Requirements to Singapore
Applicants must meet Singapore's entry requirements before starting their clinical attachment. Please ensure your passport or travel document is valid for at least six months.
