Jason’s stint as an Administrative Officer for over a decade culminated with a stint at the Government Technology Agency as Senior Director for Government Digital Services (GDS), where he led the overall strategy, design and delivery of over 50 citizen-centric and developer-centric digital products, and was also the creator of TraceTogether, the world’s first national Bluetooth contact tracing system.

As a pioneer of the technology, Jason has been published by the Association of Computing Machinery, is the protagonist of case studies on digital innovation by Harvard Business School and Singapore Management University, and has spoken at international events and with numerous governments on the application of the technology to public health.

Prior to GovTech, Jason had also been at the cutting edge of fast-moving technology and policy issues as Director of the Industry, Economic Regulation, and International Strategy divisions at the Ministry of Communications and Information, where his hands-on approach provided the key insight to solving the Circle Line rogue train mystery in 2016. Jason’s career has also included appointments as Special Assistant to Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and postings in the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Law, Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Public Service Division.

Jason graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2005, as well as a Master of Science in Management in 2019. Outside of work, he is an avid diver, occasional racer, and budding aviator.
