Title: Role Ambiguity to Advance Practice Clarity- A Masterclass for APNs

Workshop Synopsis:

This masterclass equips practising and aspiring Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) with practical approaches to transform role ambiguity into clarity, confidence, and purposeful action. Through team-based activities and guided reflection, participants will use evidence-based frameworks to design, refine, and articulate the APN role within their clinical specialty. The session also explores how advanced practice delivers value across patients, teams, and system levels, and supports participants in identifying key capabilities to strengthen as they progress in their roles. Combining real-world insights, hands-on tools, and resilience-building strategies, this workshop empowers APNs to chart clear, realistic next steps for effective and sustainable advanced practice.

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

• Describe the core components of a well-defined Advance Practice role in Nursing
• Apply evidence-based frameworks and tools to systematically design, clarify, or refine an APN role within their clinical context
• Develop targeted strategies to support early career APNs in navigating role implementation
• Identify capability gaps and development opportunities for strengthening professional practice and advancing role maturity
• Strengthen personal and professional resilience by applying practical approaches to maintain wellbeing and manage stressors
