This 4-hour interactive workshop bridges the critical gap between competency frameworks and real-world clinical practice through the lens of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). Designed for Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs), this workshop transforms theoretical understanding into practical assessment that enhance workplace-based learning and evaluation.

The workshop incorporates interactive activities designed around EPA implementation, featuring real-world clinical scenarios and workplace-based assessment techniques. Interactive discussions will address common implementation challenges and practical solutions for workplace integration.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Define Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and distinguish them from traditional competency-based assessments

• Identify the core components of an EPA and their role in workplace-based assessment

• Utilise Level of Entrustment (LOE) scales to make appropriate supervision decisions for trainees. 

• Conduct workplace-based assessments using assessment tools with entrustment questions

• Provide structured narrative feedback that enhance trainees’ learning

• Demonstrate entrustment decision-making by assessing trainee readiness using the Trust Framework incorporating reliability, integrity, capability, and humility

• Analyse common pitfalls in EPA implementation and develop solutions to overcome assessment challenges

Attendees will depart equipped with practical frameworks for implementing EPAs in their clinical setting and strategies for preparing assessors to make sound entrustment decisions
