Peritoneal Dialysis Training Programme

This programme aims to promote expanded roles, enhanced skills and knowledge for nurses working in the ward and to enable nurses to be competent in performing Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) procedures effectively and efficiently.

    

This course is organised by SingHealth Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing.  

 

Course Outline: 

• Outline the physiological principles of PD
  
• Explain exit site care according to SGH policy and procedure
  
• Describe the different type of PD solutions, prescription and documentation
  
• Identify the common causes of PD complications
  
• Demonstrate Peritoneal Dialysis Exit Side Care
  
• Demonstrate the administration of Intra-peritoneal (approved) medications
  
• Demonstrate Continuous Automatory Peritoneal Dialysis via Ultra Bag exchanges
  
• Demonstrate Continuous Automatory Peritoneal Dialysis via Staysafe Balance exchanges
  
• Demonstrate Automated Peritoneal Dialysis via Sleepsafe
  
• Demonstrate Automated Peritoneal Dialysis via Home Choice
  
  

Target Audience: 

Registered Nurses, who have nursed PD patients (at least 1 year of working experience in the ward)
