Prof Tan Kok Hian is Head, Perinatal Audit & Epidemiology and Senior Consultant Maternal Fetal Medicine in KK Women's & Children's Hospital. Prof Tan is the Lead for Gestational Diabetes, SingHealth Duke-NUS Diabetes Centre & Lead Principal Investigator, NMRC Integrated Platform for Research in Advancing Metabolic Health Outcomes of Women and Children (IPRAMHO).

Prof Tan is Group Director & Senior Associate Dean of the Institute for Patient Safety & Quality; and concurrent Group Director & Senior Associate Dean for Academic Medicine in SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre. He is inaugural Chair of National Quality Council (NQC) which serves as the national advisory panel to MOH on healthcare quality strategies.

He is involved as Principal Investigator in research studies involving pregnancy cohorts and biomarkers in pregnancy, in collaboration with A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University, Duke-NUS and the National University of Singapore. He has received several awards for his academic and clinical work. These include: Inaugural National Medical Excellence Team Award 2008, the World Health Organization-UAE Health Foundation Prize 2009 as Integrated Perinatal Care Project Team Leader, Inaugural National Outstanding Clinical Quality Activist Award 2010, the SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress 2012 Best Oral Paper for Translational Research and the 23rd Benjamin Henry Sheares Memorial Lectureship Gold Medal Award 2013.
