Dr Tan Hong Chang is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Singapore General Hospital and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. In addition, he holds a faculty position in the Endocrinology Senior Residents’ Training Programme and is an adjunct Principal Investigator at the SingHealth Investigational Medical Unit, a phase I/II research unit. Dr Tan’s clinical expertise is focused on the management of patients with obesity, type 2 diabetes and lipid related disorders. He is experienced in conducting complex clinical studies involving both patient population groups and healthy volunteers. The focus of his research has been on the in vivo study of metabolic fuel utilisation in various physiological and pathological states through the application of various gold-standard assessment techniques such as insulin clamp and stable-isotope tracer methods. He is also exploring how advancement in data analytics, artificial intelligence could improve the way patients with metabolic diseases can be treated.
