Dr Philippe Buchy is Director of Scientific Affairs and Public Health at GSK Vaccines R&D, International region. He is a medical doctor with a specialisation in Clinical Pathology, and holds a PhD in virology. He worked for 16 years with the Pasteur Institute as a Virologist and headed several National or WHO reference centres on influenza, H5N1, rabies and arboviruses. He authored over 170 publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters and WHO guidelines. He was awarded the Mérieux prize 2014 in recognition of his research on infectious diseases in developing countries.
