Prof Budu Mannyu is the current Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, the largest university in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Previously, he was the Dean of School of Medicine in Muhammadiyah University in Makassar before returning to his alma mater Hasanuddin University as Vice Dean of Academic Affairs. He later served as Vice Rector for Innovation and Partnership Affairs until his appointment as Dean of Faculty of Medicine in April 2018.

Prof Budu had been a strong supporter of TFI – SingHealth – Hasanuddin University Disaster Management Programme. Together with the initiator of the Programme, Prof Idrus Paturusi, former Rector of Hasanuddin University, he supervised and despite difficulties, ensured the programme ran smoothly until its completion in 2016.

Prof Budu was trained as an Ophthalmologist with interest in Vitreoretinal Diseases. He received PhD in the Faculty of Medicine, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Toyama, Japan. He was awarded his Professorship in Ophthalmology in 2002 by the Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia. Prof Budu is also a Master in Medical Education from Faculty of Medicine, Gajah Mada University, Indonesia. He was Chairman of the Indonesia Ophthalmology Association (PERDAMI), South Sulawesi Chapter for the years 2008 – 2012.
